About the Event
3rd Annual Larry Johnson Memorial Dutch Oven Cook-Off
Bring your cast iron, your camp-cooking grit, and your best trail-worthy recipe for the 3rd Annual Larry Johnson Memorial Dutch Oven Cook-Off at Wyoming Discovery Days in Hot Springs State Park, Thermopolis, Wyoming.
Contestants may enter one day or both days. Saturday, July 11 will feature the Savory Contest, and Sunday, July 12 will feature the Sweet Contest. Entry is $35 per day. Cooks will receive a chuck box with the same ingredients, and each dish should be large enough to provide samples for judges and People’s Choice. The overall cook-off winner will receive a Montana Silversmiths trophy buckle.
Cooking may begin at 6:00 a.m. each morning, with blind judging held at 3:00 p.m. All cooking must be done on-site in Dutch ovens and/or cast iron using campfires or charcoal. Contestants should bring their own cast iron, tables, fire equipment, water, ice, and supplies. No propane…
